Dr. Zick
Dr. Zick is a North Carolina native who grew up in the triangle area. Dr. Zick attended NC State University for both her undergraduate and veterinary training.
She has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine for 7 1/2 years as an associate in the Rocky Mount area and has been voted Best Vet in the Rocky Mount Telegram.
Dr. Zick is so excited to be opening Amelia Grace animal hospital in the Clayton area.
Dr. Zick’s family has made the move to Clayton including her husband, Chris, her five-year-old son, Avery, her three-year-old daughter, Abigail, and her three rambunctious dogs; Spikey, Bubba, and Gladys. She looks forward to meeting you and your family!
Dr. Carson
Dr. Carson grew up in Greenville North Carolina but has lived in the triangle area for the past 12 years. Dr. Carson attended NC State University for both her undergraduate and veterinary training.
Prior to veterinary school, she worked at the NC State Veterinary School as a veterinary assistant in the laboratory animal department for 8 years where she got to take care of all different kinds of species! While in veterinary school she was the president of the Behavior club and conducted behavior-based research projects in her spare time such as travel anxiety in cats and dog leash aggression.
Dr. Carson is really excited to be a part of the Amelia Grace Animal Hospital! Dr. Carson has special interests in behavior medicine and exotic species but really enjoys any day that she gets to meet new people and take care of their pets!
Dr. Carson and her husband, CJ live in the Clayton area with their 6 month son, Tucker. They have two dogs named Forgione and Rue. Dr. Carson enjoys being a mom, being outside, reading books while drinking coffee, and is an active member of her church.
Dr. Witt
Dr Witt is originally from Hilton Head, SC and grew up in her father’s small animal practice. After meeting her military husband, she moved along the east coast ultimately completing her undergraduate degree at ECU. During this time, she spent two years working in an animal shelter on the coast of NC where she became familiar with the many facets of shelter medicine. She then settled in Clayton just prior to the start of veterinary school and attended NC State University for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2017.
Dr Witt practiced mixed animal medicine for 5 years upon graduation and worked on small animals, horses, cows, goats, sheep and pigs. Though all aspects of veterinary medicine are exciting as well as rewarding, Dr Witt truly enjoys preventative medicine, ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. She is thrilled to be a part of the Amelia Grace Animal Hospital team and tremendously values the relationships that she establishes with her patients as well as their owners.
Dr Witt has been happily married to her husband, Larry, for 13 years and has a teenage son, Cameron. She has lived in the beautiful state of North Carolina since 2011 and loves all that it has to offer, particularly the beach and mountains. Her furry family members include two cats, Oliver and Alvin, and two wild German Shorthaired Pointers,
Finn and Costa. In her spare time, Dr Witt loves reading, camping, beach time and traveling with her family.
Dr. Heilmeier-Santos
Dr. Kristin Heilmeier-Santos is originally from Wheeling, WV. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She then obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and is also Fear Free Certified®.
Before relocating to Clayton, NC, Dr. Heilmeier-Santos practiced at a small animal private practice in Charlottesville, VA, a 24-hour emergency clinic in the mountains of North Carolina, and in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has a special interest in preventive and emergency veterinary medicine, finding deep meaning and satisfaction in helping pets and nurturing the human-animal bond. She also values the continuous learning that veterinary medicine offers.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Heilmeier-Santos is an avid marathon runner and enjoys spending time with her horses. She shares these passions with her husband, who is also a veterinary surgeon. Their family includes a standard poodle, two cats, and two horses, all of whom bring joy and companionship to their lives.
Selina
Meet Selina! She is a Registered Veterinary Technician of 20 years with 22 years of experience! She grew up on Long Island, NY and moved to Clayton, NC in 2008. Her veterinary passions include breeding and reproduction, and neonatal and young adult care. In her free time, she hangs out with her two daughters, Morgan and Kendall, and husband Jonny. Selina has 3 furbabies, Reya the Shih Tzu, Dozer the Rottweiler, and Reese the orange fluffy cat. She has many hobbies but her favorites include sewing, kayaking, going to the beach, and Happy Planning.
Brittany
Let us introduce Brittany! She is a Registered Veterinary Technician of 4 years with 7 years of experience. Brittany has lived in the Clayton area since 1999. Her veterinary passions include all things feline, and behavior in all species. Brittany is newly married to her husband, Chris. She has 3 furry loved ones: Talley, the Golden Retriever, Benny the best orange cat, and Tiny the other best orange cat. Her favorite pastimes include caring for and showing her horse, rooting for the Wolfpack, and eating whatever her husband cooks!
Shelly
Shelly is our Records Manager and Schedule Coordinator. When you see Shelly around the hospital, she will always greet you with a smile because she is a truly happy and positive southern girl! Shelly has worked in veterinary medicine as both a receptionist and veterinary assistant in the past, so she is an experienced member of our veterinary team. She also spends a great deal of her time training horses, barrel racing, and helping little people become more comfortable on horses. We are so excited that Shelly is a part of our team!
Hannah
Hannah has had a passion for animals since she was a little girl. Originally from Alabama Hannah loves living in NC with her husband and beautiful dog Mercedes. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys reading, walking her dog, self-care days and cooking/baking.
Shanna
Shanna is one of our part-time veterinary assistants. Shanna is passionate about animals and veterinary medicine with a huge heart for dog rescue. When she is not working, she is probably taking care of her dogs, hiking with her dogs, or taking orphans to adoption events. We are thrilled to have her as part of our team!
Nikki
Welcome, Nikki to our team! Nikki has been a Veterinary Assistant for over 13 years. She is originally from Tennessee. Nikki enjoys coffee, knitting, and going to the beach! She is also known to randomly break out in song! We love Nikki and so will you!
Brandi
Welcome Brandi! Brandi is a native of Clayton and has always wanted to work in the veterinary field since she was a little girl. Brandi joined the Marine Corps in 2008. She has 2 dogs, Lizzie and Daisy and 2 cats Lily and Miyagi. Brandi loves football, NC State Wolfpack and Seattle Seahawks. In her spare time, she likes hiking, shooting guns, being outdoors, and working on vehicles and small engines.
Clarissa
Welcome Clarissa to our team as a receptionist. She is a native of Johnston County and has worked in Vet Medicine field for over a year. She is hoping to become a Vet Assistant and finish schooling to become a Vet Tech in the near future. Clarissa loves spending time with her husband, daughter, two cats, Loki and Akria, and a puppy, Ness. She also loves finding new places to eat/explore in the triangle just as much as spending rainy days at home watching re-runs of her favorite shows.
Catherine
Catherine joined our team as a Receptionist! Catherine was born and raised in Wilson County, NC. She grew up helping her father tend to the animals on the family farm and hopes to open her own equine clinic and rescue in the future. She has 3 dogs, Sadie, Dixie and Flash, a cat named Missile Launcher, and a horse, Hillbilly. Catherine loves riding horses, spending time with her fur babies, and winding down around a fire at night with her husband.
Christie
Meet Christie! Christie has been in the veterinary field since she was 15 years old. She recently moved to North Carolina from Florida with her husband. She has a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Pit bull, Potbelly pig and Nigerian Dwarf Goat. Some of her hobbies include baking, bowling, exploring new restaurants, and home improvement projects.
Victoria
Welcome, Victoria to our team! Victoria was born and raised in Knightdale NC. She is currently an undergraduate student at NC State with the plan of attending Veterinary school. She has a chihuahua-yorkie mix named Piper. Her hobbies include binge watching shows, shopping for houseplants, and painting.
Kaycie
Meet Kaycie! Kaycie started working in the Veterinary field in 2020 as a Receptionist. She really enjoys helping others and leaving a positive vibe everywhere she goes. Kaycie grew up in Pine Level, NC where she currently lives with her husband. They have two sweet and spoiled fur babies- Trixie & Buddy! In her free time Kaycie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. We are blessed to have Kaycie join the Amelia Grace family!
Carsyn
Carsyn was born and raised in Goldsboro, NC. She currently lives near Smithfield with her wife, two dogs, and four cats. She is interested in exotic animals and also has a giant cane toad named James Pond, and three tarantulas. In her free time she loves to crochet, travel anywhere and everywhere, and read about true crime cases. Coffee is her favorite treat and is the best way to turn a bad day into a good day!! She is working towards her bachelor’s degree in social work to allow her to become a therapist or mental health counselor with a trained therapy dog/cat to use as comfort for clients. While she loves dogs to pieces, cats are one of the best!!! So she proudly calls herself a crazy cat lady!!
